Deep fried milk is a clever Chinese dessert, where thickened milk is dipped in a beer batter and deep fried. Delicious and surprising!
INGREDIENTS
- 500ml thickened cream
- 100g cornflour
- 100ml condensed milk
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup polenta
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- pinch salt
- beer, as needed
- vegetable oil, for frying
INSTRUCTIONS
1. In a saucepan combine cream, cornflour and condensed milk. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and pour into a non-stick baking pan. Cover well with plastic and chill 2 hours.
2.Make the batter: combine flour, polenta, baking powder, salt and enough beer to make a thick batter.
3.Dice up the set milk mixture into cubes, dip in the batter and deep fry until golden brown.
